Dictate into any app.
Nothing leaves your Mac.

Cloud dictation tools are fast — but every word you speak is sent to a remote server, processed there, and returned. For personal notes, client work, or anything sensitive, that's a problem.

Lexis runs entirely on your Mac. Hold one key, speak, release — the transcribed text appears instantly wherever your cursor is. No internet required. No data leaves your device. Powered by Whisper on Apple Silicon.

Lexis never connects to a transcription server. Audio is processed on-device using the open-source Whisper model via Apple's MLX framework. Your microphone data stays on your Mac, always.

What Lexis does

Getting started

1
Download & run the installer
Double-click lexis-v1.4.0-installer.pkg. Everything is set up automatically, including the Whisper model download on first launch (~800 MB).
2
Grant Accessibility permission
Lexis needs one-time Accessibility access to type text into other apps. macOS will prompt you automatically — open System Settings and enable it.
3
Start dictating
Click anywhere, hold ⌥ Right Option, speak naturally, release — text appears at your cursor. That's it.
